This would mean the GTX570 is a bit pointless now!

The GTX570 is around 10% faster than an HD6950:

The HD6950 1GB will probably be able to compete with the GTX560 quite well it seems.

But I already have a 500 series ti card ;) (GF3 ti500)

perfect model placement - can forsee a new card as well- the GTS 550 at some point as well :D

can also see HD6850 prices crash after this , as the mid range just went passed it.

With my Radeon 7000-series card we're really bleeding edge :thumbsup: We should benchmark them against each other to see who'll win the battle of the next generation :lol:

Hate to quibble on the maths, but if the GTX460 achieves about 75% of the performance of the GTX560 then the 560 offers around 33% more performance than the 460, not 25% as stated in the article.

Hope this matches the 6950 and undercuts it. If this could come in at £190 it might actually tempt me back to the dark side

820mhz core suggests very limited overclocking headroom

All the GTX 500 series cards seem to have very aggressive clocks.

900mhz appears to be the limit on air for gtx570 and gtx580 cards. The gtx560 is unlikely to clock higher than this.

gtx580 - 772 -> 900 +17%
gtx570 - 732 -> 900 +23%
gtx560 - 820 -> 900 +10%

If it wasn't for nVidia needing to compete with the 6950, the gtx560 would ship with a much lower clockspeed. Pushing clocks so high suggests it should easily match the 6950 at stock. Of course, the 6950 has some decent overclock headroom. If AMD keep the unlocked shaders in their revised version it will remain the better card for overclockers.
