Did someone forget to tell Sony that you can't copyright hardware?

All these hackers need to be jailed. Sony will end up losing money and piracy will become popular on the PS3.

All these tier 1 motherboard manufacturers need to be jailed. AMD and Intel will end up losing money and overclocking will become popular on desktop computers. Enthusiasts will choose not to buy premium CPUs and opt for cheaper alternatives and overclock them.

Since when manufacturers were allowed to tell me what to do with my hardware. What's next... Oral B suing me for uploading a video on youtube showing how to replace the non-user replaceable battery? In some situations it is only reasonable to void the warranty but that's as far as it should go (i.e. a manufacturer should not be able to void your warranty on a failed GPU because the HDD was upgraded).

The PS3 is a gaming console, not a HTPC!
Sony didn't sell PS3 for your Linux needs. It's an 'addition' that was there. And, how many of us PS3 owners installed Linux ? Let me see some hands.

    Oh dear.

So including something in your product, marketing it so it might attract different users, selling it to them and then pulling the feature without so much as a warning* you consider to be fair?

They sold it with the ability to do something, that they later removed without telling people. You simply can not defend that.

When Creative did the same, the outcry was the same. People hacked there drievrs to add the features back in.

*There was a warning added after the outtcry, but not when it was released.

Well it does seem they forgot its primay function... games, low framrate, screen tearing maybe a problem for both HD consoles but the PS3 suffers more.

doesnt matter, all consoles suffer from that. game on pc mate. my point is saying how a ps3 is boring when it does more things then other consoles is ludicrous.

i onced used the other OS just for kicks and it worked fine. installed ubundo and it was cool. do i miss the feature? na not really.

is it wrong for sony to remove it? yup it is based on agents post.
