@Infinite
I've got a faulty Asus G1Sn that is suffering from a defective nvidia gpu so I'm currently trying to get it sorted as it is a fault with the manufactoring therefore the retailer is liable.
Go to www.nvidiadefect.com if your from the UK as there is a lot of great info and even a step-by-step guide on how to make a claim against the company ou bought it from, as well as loads of other people who are in the same situation.
As I said I'm currently trying to claim for my laptop from DSGi but I'm awaiting their letter in response, seeing as it cost me nearly £900 and it's a laptop designed for gaming I'm not accepting anything that doesn't have at least the same power/performance so hopefully I'll have a nice shiny new laptop within the next month!
Best of luck with your laptop!

Seriously!?
If you had one of the effected laptops you would either be lucky and it still work or you would of had it go pop sold it and moved on by now, be nice to see what sort of percentage of people dont claim because they dont have the laptop/receipt anymore..
Pretty much my situation. I had an HP v60xx (which is listed as an affected series) bought in September 2006 and had nothing but trouble with it to the point where I gave up, stripped it down and either reused or got rid of all the components. Frustrating if I could have got some kind of repair or compensation, but I imagine there's an unrealistic number of hoops to jump through to make a claim anyway...
My one is not eligeble because it is HP DV2503 yet DV2xxx are? Same chassis with an nvidia GPU so why not?
Strictly no HP and nvidia products for me. I don't like HP for their driver support as well (having loads of "fun" with Windows 7 and 5 ish year old HP printers at work).
tbh I think I've still got an effected HP dv6xxx something or other minus the ram and hard drive, might see if its eligable..
Well I have a D620 which is affected, but for some reason I am not eligible, no idea why, falls into the correct time frame has all the symptoms etc Maybe the site doesn't work properly yet.
Mines not eligable apparently yet it has the effected chipset and was purchased during the timescale.
So, not only are the chances of someone still having the dead laptop and receipt etc but there also needing to have a specific type/model of effected laptop.
The more you look into this the more dodgy it looks, maybe it should be flagged as a hoax..
