Pixmania and CCL have the cards in stock and Dabs supposedly will have them in 2 days:

err.... why? or why at that price?
You can get a 2GB version for not much more.
If at £180 (or less ) maybe it would make things interesting..
At £210 it doesn't make a lot of sense. At £199 it makes plenty. And two of those stores are selling them for £199 or less. It's targeted directly at the GTX560, which sells from around £199. And it *is* cheaper than a 2GB 6950, so if money is particularly tight and you're not gaming at higher than 1080p resolutions, it's a reasonable shout.
Although 2 stores with one card and one with "they're coming soon, honest" is still not particularly good coverage for a supposedly launched card: the worrying this as far as I'm concerned is that the other etailers haven't even got pre-order listings for it. You can tell (as reported on Anandtech) that it was a massively rushed launch...
This is because supposedly a little birdy informed AMD about the performance of the GTX560TI 1GB beforehand and this made them realise the HD6870 would not be good enough.
TBH,I am surprised they had not anticipated that the GTX560 would be this fast as the overclocked GTX460 1GB cards were as fast as a GTX470.
This would mean cheaper HD6870 and HD6850 cards too!
Personally, if money is that tight, either card is probably a bit over budget?
Have you looked at current HD6870 prices? Why would anyone bother with that card for the sake of £0-20 difference in cost compared to 1GB HD6950.
Price and hardware wars are great but it leaves the market in a mess.

AMD should reduce prices even further so that the GTX 560 can go lower, I mean £200 is quite a lot for a card. The GTX 460 went down in price so fast.
The HD6870 1GB like I have mentioned before is overpriced. At launch it could be had for around £170 but has escalated in price way too much.
An HD6870 1GB for £130 to £150 would be a better buy IMHO. It would also mean that the HD6850 1GB would be around the £100 level. £150 is about the limit I would want to pay for any graphics card.
I doubt that the GTX560TI 1GB and HD6950 1GB will drop down to that price level until they are EOL.
TBH,I cannot understand the reason for the stupidly long PCBs AMD use?
