Don't these new display port 1.2 connectors support up to 3 daisy chained monitors from each port?

If so in theory you could connect 12 monitors to this thing...crazy!

What do you mean, "one of the six pin connectors"? The photo shows one six-pin and one eight-pin.

Less shaders than the 5970? I know the new cards are built in a different way but cant imagine this will be much of a step up?

There's an article on this somewhere. The 6xxx series have less shaders than the 5xxx series becuase when AMD looked at the usage there weren't any games that were using all of them. So they've reduced the number in order to create efficiencies elsewhere in the design that give better results per chip.
    Or something like that. IANAE.
    Society's to blame,
    Or possibly Atari.

Just take a look at the HD 6970 review. It has fewer shaders than the HD 5870 (both flagship single-GPU cards) yet it performs between 10 and 40% better, depending on the game (at least in the HEXUS review).

So the 6990 (with either 2 6970 or 6950 GPUs) should be able to walk past the 5970 without any problems.

The HD 6990 which is AMD direct answer to the GTX 580. The HD 6990 is gonna rule!!
5 monitor support right out the box. hopefully they keep at $600 but seeing how the HD 5970 still beats the GTX 580, who knows.
