Experienced Engineers in management positions? Seems pretty obvious, doesn't it?

Re: News - Microsoft mulls management reshuffle

experienced and good software engineers often hate people and are terrible at people management skills, in fact the best managers I've had have NEVER been maths/physics and instead doing often non-engineering related studies at uni, and only what I'd describe as passionately hobbiest when it comes to engineering.

Also this is for software development/software design consultancy type work.
