Meh, if you have flash anyway just go to the iplayer site & the mobile version pops up, I'm not sure what extra the app can/does provide?
Myplayer on Android was great, download shows but that got canned after the BBC kicked off about it. They won't allow downloading as I imagine it's easy to then copy shows.
As for the wifi issue, it's the same as it was before no? I'm on Voda & couldn't stream up until recently but it will destroy your data cap anyway as its about 120mb for 30mins IIRC.
AFAIK there were a couple of carriers who the beeb approved for streaming over 3G, one of which was Voda (I've been with them for ~ 18 months now, so it's been possible for that long).Originally Posted by Rob_B

iplayer works on iphone and ipad already (even without flash) - so there was no need to spend money on these apps IMO

I certainly couldn't stream over 3G/HSDPA at first & I've had my Desire for ~ 6months.
The iplayer video wouldn't load & directed you to some page describing who could'couldn't stream, then it just started working form some reason.....strange!

Very disappointing - As others have said myplayer worked great on 2.1 and didn't need flash. But beeb didn't like it so stopped it and now I have nothing. Thanks Beeb!
Licence fee shouldn't be needed, even for live broadcasts, because you are using a battery powered device.
Very disappointing though. Shut down all the decent 3rd party apps then release your own one which a lot of people can't use. Great job...

As has been covered elsewhere if you just use it for catchup you can get away without one, but if you watch "live" TV, you need a license.You don't need a license for:
Any device powered solely by its own internal batteries (i.e. it is not connected to an aerial or plugged into the mains). Your main home’s TV Licence will cover this.
How? BBC cut off the feeds so even the 'old' app stopped working (well, it should have done as it did for me & many, many others) !
I'm say here watching this on my phone now, using the myplayer app streaming over WiFi.

Strange, when the dev first changed myplayer to a generic streaming app with BBC removed there was uproar, lots didn't upgrade and were sharing the old app.
Then it stopped working altogether for me & from what I saw everyone else, I will need to look into this as I do miss it! Just wish you could queue downloads. Can you download shows still or just stream?
Nope, no longer able to download anything, just stream live and or archived programs/radio.

That was the only use for me, if I'm near wifi I'm near a TV
Wifi only is a let-down - Three saw fit to offer me a truly unlimited data service, it'd be a shame not to use it
Not that I ever really watch iplayer, but I might be tempted to look into it. One more way to waste time though
Plus, I would probably go so far as to say my wifi is less reliable, and certainly slower, than 3G.
