Activision really are determined to take the crown of worse publisher. EA use to be bad but nothing compared to how Activison now is. It just seems to be a case of wanting more cash for less and less. £10+ for a map pack (and failure to purchase makes the game almost useless) and now pay to play. I think when the new black ops map pack is out I switching back to battlefield - At least you get some free maps and the £10 expansion really is an expansion! Really hoping BF3 finally causes COD to drop out of the must buy if you want to game online zone.
CoD is a totally different type of game to BF and has a totally different crowd. BF3 will just pull people away that are currently glued to BF:BC2 or still BF2.
I think if the Medal of Honor franchise improves they could probably steal some of the line light and get a bit of competition on the go.
I say bring it back to WWII! I'm sick of these modern shoot through walls and blow everything up shooters!
So much for them saying they would never charge for online play in COD.
If anyone actually believed a single word that came out of Kotic's mouth, then they really are the gullible lot. The guy hasn't a clue and everything he says/does just digs Activision even further into a hole.
Activision could do well with getting rid of the bloke. I think everything he said over the last few years he has turned back on and done the exact opposite.

I dearly hope so - it's pretty obvious that Activision now just regard CoD players as cash-cows to be milked until they squeal - here's one CoD loyalist who will definitely NOT be buying into a subscription-only CoD. Apart from anything else, I hit the MP very infrequently, so it's of zero interest to me. So some serious competition would be most welcome!
Hear, hear - too much of this "call in an airstrike and wipe out the target, their friends, their friends friends, ...". Can't compare to the warm feeling when you manage to take out a running target with an MP44 one-shot-kill.
One thing's worrying me - BF3 seems to be very heavily slated to MP (talks that the SP "campaign" will only take 4 hours to complete) and now this thing from Activision - are FPS with a decent single player game a dying breed? I hope not, otherwise I'm going to have to move to Fable et al. That said I thought BF:BC2's SP was superior to both of the latest CoD and MoH games.
<rant>Of course, if the MP games actually handled ranking properly, (i.e. don't put noob's like me in with folks who eat and sleep sprite shooting), then I'd be happier and probably use them more. </rant>
This is kinda old news, this Modern Warfare 3 website confirmed a Call of Duty MMO game was in development and will be out in 2012...they posted it during last week on January...mwarfare3.com/call-of-duty-mmo-confirmed-by-source-28. Sucks the game is going to be for China tho
Tiny maps, few people online, constant connection issues. I'd gladly pay for more of that
Red Orcestra 2 is out this year, that should cover my online shooter needs. And will hopefully work properly.
WWII games? How old are you guys ? 60, 70 ?
I would never pay for any subscription game, so this Activision COD has FAIL written all over it!
Seriously, Activision has gone down hill since Modern Warfare 2, in terms of online or single player. They seem to be desperate on milking call of duty like WoW. I won't be surprised if Modern Warfare 3 is another rehash of every Call of Duty games. Terrible game, terrible community, and just plain terrible dev support. I hope battlefield 3 does not disappoint!
