You might be downloading your ebooks on a device with an eInk screen for lower prices than they charge.

You know I was at a developers conference the other day, a mixture of people, mostly .Net, Java and C++, so grown up languages, and I was the only one at our little table scoffing the free booze who DIDN'T own an android phone.... And the only reason for that is because I'm a .Net dev and as such java feels like making love to a sheep, i mean its wet and warm, but its just not quite evolved enough.

Apple's worst enemy is their own marketing IMHO, it manages to alienate as many people as it convinces... I can't stand the smug-****-ish-ness that drips off it, it seems that they genuinely think a iGadget makes you a better person, and small-minded people actually buy into it... just makes me want to hit people with a spade when they whip out their iPhone/iPad/Mac and expect me to be impressed (they then usually ask for help to use the damn thing), in reality I'm just thinking "And? Millions of people, including old fogies have these, what's the big deal?"

I don't want an iPhone (or any Apple product) more because I am turned off by the whole Apple image and the way it's marketed than any other factor... (there are plenty of other practical reasons too, but they are a smaller % of the overall no thanks).

I don't have even a basic mobile phone and never want one. I don't need to read books on a headache inducing tiny screen, I just pick up a real book. I don't need an App to tell me useless information. I don't need to now what's going on in the world every second of every day, it won't atop without me knowing! I don't need to watch videos or listen to music on a tiny little detail hiding screen through a crummy set of earbuds... I have a full size TV and HiFi for that, thank you very much... I buy my music on CD, no compatibility problems, works on any CD Player in my house! I don't care if people can't reach me 24 hours a day whenever they want... ah diddums... I have more important things to do than listen to inane whittling... same goes for Twitter. I don't care if someone famous has just picked their nose and tweeted about it... boring!

Most people are like sheep and just play follow the leader, others just wann keep up with the Jones.

Not me.

So as far as I'm concerened: If you don't have an iPhone... you have a life!
