    NASA is an underfunded government institution. Google is a very profitable company.

    Working for NASA would be a bit like working as a university science professor, except without the need to give lectures to undergraduates. You would get to do a lot of very cool stuff, and make exciting discoveries, but you would have to fight for every cent of funding, and your pay would be half what you could get elsewhere.

    Guy I was working with in Manchester left to join Google - the stories he was telling sounded pretty sweet, so yes, I wouldn't mind a chance to sign on with them either.

    Career status: still enjoying my new career in DevOps, but it's keeping me busy...
