The last time I checked, you don't need a screen to listen to music. The mobile game aren't designed for large screens, and games in general are inherently annoying with touchscreens. You may have a point with videos, but then to me even a 12" screen is annoyingly small for watching video. Bringing me back to the point of tablets, on the go web browsing, the only thing it's somewhat good at. Making 3g-less tablets utterly useless.

Actually given the fact you're either at home or at work [Mon-Fri?] huge chunk of your time it would make sense not to get the 3G version otherwise I would agree with above posters, iPad with no internet is as crap as smartphone without one.

Plenty of games look better on the higher density screen of the iPhone rather than the cheapo iPad one, when you consider how limited the processing power is too.
But the main bug bear, and this I've found to be worse on stylusless devices (from phones, to the MS surface) my hand isn't transparent. I've yet to have the recommended jellyfish DNA merge. I can't see through it.
As such an interface where my fingers are the only things obscuring and i can often see round them due to the scale and the eyes spacing, well that is better.

Personally, given the choice between the 2 devices and the same game, I'd pick the iPad to play it on. The extra screen space more than makes up for the lower resolution for gaming and video watching purposes in my estimation.
whats wrong with a laptop? serious what is the point of a tablet nevermind a bigger screen version of my ipod touch.
lack of keyboard. no true OS loaded on most tablets, have to hold the blooming tablet at an angle to watch movies on.

Battery life and portability!
Its always going to be marmite with apple products, they clearly have a place in the market due to the high sales figures and the android clones are turning out to be just as much money.
I see the point of just having a laptop but again as echoed above portability comes into it, plus the show off factor.

can you fit it inside a backpack? yes, can you also fit a laptop in your backpack. of course.
in terms of portability, a laptop thats screen size is 15 or less is portable. in terms of batter life, if the ipad 2 is like the ipod touch where if u play games or watch movies on it, the battery lasts 10mins then no, ipad 2's battery life is poor.
i suppose a tablet is lighter but thats about it. the pros of using a laptop far outweighs the pros of a tablet imo

I find the portability and battery life of the iPad to be far greater than even a 13" laptop. There's really just no comparison between the 2 as far as convenience is concerned.Battery life and portability!

SO when would you use it if not when your out and about? if your just using it at home or at work, why is it better to use a ipad then your pc/laptop at home/work?
The point of using a tablet and a mobile smartphone is when your away from your desk at home/work. not to use it while your at home/work.
who here browsing hexus on there mobile phones/tablets when there at home/work instead of using there pc's?
I use my ipod touch when the missus is on my PC to browse.
Would use an ipad for the same thing, she has a netbook for school work but uses the ipod alot more.
I guess a 7" pad would make the difference between tablet and laptop a bit bigger.
