The fact is, does the pros of having a ipad ooutweighs the pros of having a laptop? imo no it doesnt.
im not saying there is "nothing" good about a ipad over a laptop but to me, besides weight, the laptop is far superior for me then a tablet.
this is not a apple dig. this is a dig at all tablets by the way. if i wanted a device to simply read emails and browse a site or two for 2mins and listen to music, i would use my htc desire phone instead. but if i wanted a full screen size browsing with the odd gaming or two, laptop is the way to go imo.
i just bought a dell xps 15 and i am currently playing console quality graphics on it(PS3,360 quality that is).
The quality of graphics in tablet games is not great plus they tend to be pick up and play short games whilst a laptop can possibly play fully fledged computer games like crysis 2.
Yeah I agree about tablets in general as it stands, I'd much prefer to have a proper tactile keyboard over banging away on a piece of glass. But there lies my next concern - I know a few people who have broken the glass on their iPhones, I reckon an iPad may be even more vulnerable especially when people carry one around in a bag with other stuff that will bang against the screen.
About uses, video and web browsing are seriously the only two useful things I can think of doing with the iPad, not least because it uses a phone OS. But then you could do either of them more easily in most scenarios with a laptop, or a netbook if you want more portability. IMO a tablet would be a fun gimmick you get, use for a while then get bored, if it cost <£200 or so but the asking price of the Apple variety is, as usual, absurd.
