It's amazing how quickly (and easily!) tablets have been integrated into our lives.
only as a cheap substitute for something better.
the iPad 1/2 has done remarkably well for what it is, but i think that may be because the people following x86 parts have a netbook in the home and are waiting for the zacate to really start firing on all cylinders before they move up. the roll out has been embarrassingly slow thus far. the IP2 may be thinner and faster but it is still just a glorified phone at the end of the day.

Totally agree with this. I expect the whole tablet environment to change once the hardware for the two platforms meets in the middle (IE phone processors become more powerful and x86/64 parts become lower power) its difficult to say for sure that it will go int he x86 direction for sure but either way its better for us all.
I think Asus' idea of a dockable keyboard is one which will be very appealing when things progress. Im certainly keeping my eye out for that!
