Looks like they might be closing in on Sony Vegas, with that even if it did surpass Vegas I wouldn't be happy paying apple premium tax on my hardware.

Many newsrooms in the US use Vegas for its speed and versatility, many mainstream features that get cut on Avid secretly do their audio on Vegas but keep it quiet since there are very compelling 'political' pressures to do so. Blah, blah, blah.
Anyway, FWIW I find it pretty funny how many 'features' in the new FCP are in and have been in Vegas for YEARS. Gotta laugh. And when Apple finally puts it on their site, no doubt they'll use words like 'ground breaking' and 'revolutionary' for those same features. They did last time, for sure

If Sony is the systems integrator they are likely to push the Sony suite. Otherwise people go for Apple/Avid.
