Erm missing the point, Apple even if you opt out ignore your request. Fandroid users don't have that issue.

And WM7 users no one cares about, because there are like 10 of us, total.

Make that 11. I've just ordered a Winmo7 and an Android phone for testing at work.
I don't have particularily high expectations for Winmo 7 and I'm familiar enough with what to expect from the Android phone.

I think that's the point, even with it off...they still track you.

I wouldn't be too fussed about it tbh (there isn't much in life I am fussed about though..) but I still would rather they didn't know where I was, when i was and for how long etc... ESPECIALLY if I have already told them to sod off and disabled it.

Dude, I'm a BlackBerry user for your info so not fanboyism involved

Google is doing exactly the same thing i.e. tracking your location and no one seems to moan? They got told off from scanning Wi-Fi, now they're shifting it to Android to do their dirty business...

How about MAC addy to location using Google maps? Or SSIDs?

How about Google DNS or search engine?

    Feeling safer using GMail already?

Don't have to own/use it to be a fanboy!

And no Google aren't if you turn it off, they don't harvest it. The google maps scanning van thing is a bit different because they are only picking up signals you broadcast publically anyway. (its much less of a privacy concern than real time tracking)

I really don't get your complaints about DNS or search, again if you opt out, your opted out.

Don't understand the gmail comment, I avoid it like the plauge.

Do us a favour please and paste your Wi-Fi MAC from your router below, don't forget to let us know the results!

    http://samy.pl/androidmap/index.php?...+&commit=Probe

My network always has been encrypted with hidden SSID apart from the freaking 2 minutes setup it took to set the security options yet some ******** with Android device was passing by and my router ended up in Google's database. Sweet huh?

I have misread your GMail comment, good on you for not using it

Google will never have enough, apart from knowing what we search for on daily basis by using Google they've decided some time ago to introduce free DNS servers [you don't have to use them]

SOOO if you just happen to navigate to a website by not using Google [they probably hate you by doing so] and have their DNS set they know it... Simple.
