Re: News - HTC Sensation up for pre-order at Vodafone

£35 per month is expensive - the fact consumers are willing to spend this amount per month shows that people do have too much money to waste.
750mb data for £35 per month is also a joke. Apart from three, the mobile companies are choking this country in comparison to other countries. We pay high prices for mobile contracts and are lagging behind in technology compared to modern countries. Wheres 4g? T-mobile won't even offer above 3g speeds anymore on mobile phones unless your willing to cough out alot of money.

Phone prices are also on the rise too much. See how Apple has such high profits, because they screw the consumer over and out of pocket.

I can't remember where I saw it, but network providers are actually making less money with the popularity of smartphones dues to hardware costs.

Also, the experience of Three networks internet compared to that of Vodafone is abysmal in my area.

I did a speed comparison on my iPhone 4 on Vodafone and a friends iPhone 4 on three and I was speeding through websites compared to his phone which was taking 3-4 x longer than mine.

My experience of 3 vs O2 was that 3 seemed to have longer latency times, although actual download speeds were the same or faster. So giving a more sluggish browsing experience, but with larger downloads chugging along nicely (usually double the speed or so of my WiFi)

I got burned buying my current phone - HTC Desire - with Orange. I can see why more and more people just buy the handset outright. Probably works out cheaper.

Latest info/rumour is that European Galaxy S II's actually lack NFC, so you might like to check and if necessary correct that.

Also, although I agree that mobile charges are high, the UK market is actually one of the most competitive (and cheapest) globally (excluding the Far East), so we're not doing too bad.

Re: News - HTC Sensation up for pre-order at Vodafone

I'm sure there will be a good deal to find somewhere for it After shopping around I pre-ordered my desire from T-Mobile on a £10 p/m 24 month tariff and paid £165 for the phone... and I got £60 cashback from http://www.topcashback.co.uk/ref/andaho

I wasn't sure about going with T-Mobile cause their signal is a bit lacking where I live... but when they shared their signal with Orange I've now got great coverage

The Spec of the Sensation is very attractive, but I'm not sure about it being wider... I had the HD2 before the desire and found it to big to be comfortable in my pocket (I sent it back after 2 weeks)... I like the size of the Desire, and I hope they'll release something the same size with the sensation specs by this time next year when my 24 month contract will be up.

I agree, I'd rather buy a sim-free smart phone, then a 30 day sim only contract deal with about 300 mins and texts with a minimum of 500MB of data simply for my own piece of mind.
Its worth paying a bit extra for the phone anyway, just to not have the networks shocking firmware/bloatware installed too.

Re: News - HTC Sensation up for pre-order at Vodafone

That's what I've been doing with my past 3 handset, sim-free or PAYG - then unlock.

Been using my 30 day rolling contract since 2009, I pay quite a bit on my contract, but yes just for my own piece of mind / ability to get out of it quick.

I got my desire hd dont free for exactly that reason, then went with giffgaff, works out cheaper over the life of the contract.
