I wouldn't hold out too much because... well it isnt bulldozer

The bulldozer based APU for mobile and lower power desktops will appear next year and is codenamed trinity.

Not compared to these. Like said they're chips for everyone and have decent onboard graphics and OK processing power. Ideal for laptops and mainstream computer users. until opencl becomes a biggie they're not going to show thier full potential. I'm not sure these are for the the enthusiast/nerd.

    Bulldozer will be the yardstick.

EDIT: when is the NDA lifted?

    NDA lifts on the 14th.

I hope you didn't get a gimp one like the Chinese one they are discussing on XS btw.

Re: News - AMD desktop Llano APU chip pictured... in the HEXUS labs

Just incase you did and you are getting some weird (low) scores with what appears to be very high clock speed..

This was posted on Coolaler, I'm guessing by informal of XS.

    Hi all.
As I don't speak Chinese, I will write in English so I hope you understand me .

First of all your Llano is not working at 5.4Ghz, there is a bug in bios.Actual clock speed is around 3Ghz (when you see 5.4GHz in CPUz). The ratio between REAL clock and what you see is around 1.75x. So when you saw 2.4Ghz it was actually locked at 1.4GHz, when you saw 4.7GHz it was performing tests at actual clock of ~ 2.68Ghz .. You get the picture . It is evident from your 3dmark06 CPU test, CPUmark99, superpi and ESPECIALLY AIDA64 results which are all in line with Phenom II @ ~ 3GHz.

So this Llano sample has some "brake" in BIOS that is limiting your multiplier to 15 or 15.5x, even if you manually select 54x.
    So to recap everything:
-Llano 's turbo mode is broken on your sample,
    -Real clock is 1.75x lower than what CPUz reports (2.4Ghz-> 1.4GHz, 4.7Ghz-> 2.68Ghz, 5.4Ghz-> 3.05Ghz)
-Results are in line with Phenom II, clock per clock, give or take a few percent.

Just wanted to point out this obvious thing to all of you, so you all don't think Llano is slower than K7 at the same clock speed .

    Cheers!

Re: News - AMD desktop Llano APU chip pictured... in the HEXUS labs

i am hoping this turns out to be worth the hype . i am due a upgrade . i have a i7 2600k in the house but i used it for my sons pc. i was going to go for the fx bulldozer for myself but luckily it has been delayed and this made me see other options which i would have overseen before. i am hopefully going to go for a better apu over a i7 2600k.

Reason being is a Apu is more practical in the long run as you don't use your processor to the max anyway and therfore having a overall balance is important.Main thing i n
ow have to hope for is that it takes my gpu bottleneck out.I currently own a q6600 and its a bottleneck for my hd5870.

If it does that then the extra cpu power in real terms isn't practical.I think that is more important.

    5870 bottle-necked by a q6600?

Firstly, I would investigate further before jumping to that conclusion, secondly, if the CPU really is the bottleneck, Llano probably wouldn't be your best option.

Depending on the multi-core optimization of the game, at stock the Q6600 will bottleneck a 5870, hell i saw a big improvement with my GTX260SSC when i overclocked my Q6600. The bottleneck tends to lift between 3.0 and 3.4, i settled at 3.2 back then and i havent changed it since i replaced the GTX260 with a 5870 so i cant say if that needs any more, i doubt it though!

Yep was following that thread today.

If Hexus has also been given one of these, you have got to ask what AMD is doing. Ok it's an ES but deliberately giving borked ES's (assuming it came from AMD that is) to the press is downright bizarre.

Or maybe it's a different ES, and everything is working fine. Who knows lol I'm going half-mad at these leaks.

So are these the ones that can use the GPU for general processing, or is it just a iGPU ala SNB?
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.
