Intel is on its way out, at least as a monopoly. No way can x86 be viable for mobile devices, and the advent of Windows 8 on ARM heralds the end of Wintel.

Shame this won't run any non-Java apps (i.e. anything with native ARM Linux code in it, like satnav apps or games)

Indeed, I think this is going to be a real issue, at least initially as the new phones come along and none of the decent games work.
Can't help but think Android is turning into to WinCE.
