The jury is very much out on this for the moment.... a key point with this is that it's not just a replacement for FCP it's a replacement for Final Cut Studio - the £800 version all of which (except Motion and Compressor) have now been integrated into FCP X.
Some of the features like GPU accelerated rendering, 64bit architecture, colour coded markers and the biggest of all background rendering are great improvements.
However, no backwards compatibility, no ability to work with tape and a lot more advanced features that have disappeared are a bit concerning, although it's early days for this product yet. The dropping of Soundtrack PRO and DVD Studio to integrate into the main interface are no major surprise, but doing the same with Color when it is becoming the industry standard for grading is a bold move..
Its' a re-invention of Final Cut and anything this scale will take some time to settle.

even more annoying when they're just catching up with the same stuff others have had for a while
GPU accelerated rendering - CUDA ?

Funnily enough I put an order in yesterday for 80x FCS licenses for the Uni I work at. Now this morning the new version's released lol. Since it's such a huge change it's got implications for the modules its used for, and not offering an 'all in one' Studio package is a little disappointing. Some of the features are impressive, but given that I hated the interface for iMovie, this doesn't bode well...
Although Im not a FCP user myself I am a bit concerned about what the nature of this upgrade adn the loss of what many professional consider to be key features and they might mean for the next version of Logic Studio. Im not sure Im feeling especially encourage dat the moment
