Good to see, more competition always helps! Isn't this how HTC started?
Sounds like a good idea to me, I can see them doing well if they offer more good value for money phones.
started making phones that were branded by the networks o2 XDA's Orange MDA's etc, and phones that were then branded as other manufacturers, like the Motorola MPX200. Then one day decided to start selling them in their own name. And here they are, synonymous with android phones.Quote:

My girlfriend has the misfortune to own a ZTE Racer on three - and it's appalling. The "Blade"/San Francisco isn't really great quality compared to even HTC's cheapest devices, but it's leaps and bounds better than their Racer device.
Still, more competition is not usually a bad thing, and if ZTE are going to up their game and release more quality handsets under their own name over here, then good luck to them!
edit: HTC are more synonymous with windows mobile phones than android in my mind - since thats where their success really started; especially when they released HTC Sense which turned WM6 from a purely business class OS into one that could be used by personal consumers also. Without them, WM6 would have died a death years before it actually did.
No doubting that they make the best-in-class Android devices these days too though, and also for Windows Phone 7, albeit without their brilliant Sense UI.
I heard ZTE may be releasing a windows 7 phone also.
I'm pretty sure that ZTE are the OEM behind my elonex etouch: which is a reasonable Android tablet for the price, but the price is only £120 for a 10" tablet! As such, it doesn't scream - or even whisper - quality; it simply does as good a job as you'd expect a £120 tablet to do (that is, it's functional but not much more than that). As such, I'd personally want to get my hands on any of their devices - own branded or rebranded - before making any judgements on quality... ;)

Definitely - having used one and compared to a Galaxy S side by side though, I'd confidently say that despite the resolution the screen on the S was better in terms of colours and viewing angles..and of course it's a much faster phone in use.Quote:

This is again not a bad thing - we need good bottom end devices, rather than the usual rubbish (like the racer), as not everyone can afford to spend £400 on a phone/tablet, but they still want something that will do the job very well. I'll be very interested to see if ZTE can create some high end devices to compete with HTC and Apple though..time will tell.
well the S is a SuperAMOLED rather than the basic one in the SF, however the S was about 2.5x the price when i baught it, so we can let them off that.Quote:

id hope they focus more on making SF style devices with internals updated to more relatively modern specs, but still the same cost to them and cost to us. Because it was perfectly balanced and it would be a shame if they drift away like the racer seems to have done.Quote:

The Blade/Orange SF was a great device. They need to replicate that value for money. I thought the Racer was a waste of space.
Got to say I have a HTC wildfire and my dad has an orange San Francisco (ZTE blade) and his phone is easily better than my wildfire, and looking at prices they are around the same price too.

needs a perkier cpu, led flash, front cam, 2.3. If they can get that at 99.99 same as OSF, then should be a winner.
the screen isnt so basic, that would imply resistive screen to me? its now tft on all models (some early ones had amoled) but is capacitive.
