I've been waiting for these, finally some competition
Re: News - AMD Llano powered laptops arrive in the UK
5 hours battery life - that's impressive.
Re: News - AMD Llano powered laptops arrive in the UK
if Dell can put an i7 and a GPU in an Alienware 11.6" then these cpu/gpu things can go in a chunky netbook :)
Re: News - AMD Llano powered laptops arrive in the UK
yeah, lets have some 11-13" action not some clunker of 15.6" size!

Really? I'm pretty sure my XPS 15 can exceed that, and it's got a top-of-the-range i7 and a GTS 540M in it, plus a 1080p screen (which, yes, likely uses more power than the 1366x768 one that they'll almost certainly be using).
Re: News - AMD Llano powered laptops arrive in the UK
yeah i have to admit i was expecting more than 5-6 hours. Also not interested unless its in a decent looking compact case!
Re: News - AMD Llano powered laptops arrive in the UK
agreed with above; give me a 35W A8 in a 12" chassis!

I'm using a laptop with i3 330m chip I bought over 16 months ago with raden 5450 mobility gpu, 3 hours is about max if I'm doing general computing. So yeah, 5 hours to me sounds impressive. The size of battery supplied with laptop will also play its part.

thats a practical figure that you are giving, the manufacturers figures are often padded up a little. 5 hours stated usuall ends up being under by an hour or so. Have a look at what yours is supposed to run at?

Your manufacturer probably reckons it runs for 6 hours.
Given measurements are measured with wi-fi off, screen brightness low and Windows set to power saving, and then left idle until turning off - i.e. absolute best case and bog all use as an expectation!
Re:D.... News - AMD Llano powered laptops arrive in the UK
Hp is always more, so guess that less expensive TOSH haz One Very Cool Point. RED. Even RED Touch Pad. More memory ,too.
Even if Intel SB is only Half Defective Now, At Least AMD Cost More, So Better Bet works. Especially In:RED.
drashek REDologist....:iloveyou:

Whereas I'm used to a 13" ASUS UL30A with an ULV Core 2 Duo in, which typically achieves around 10 hours from a charge ;) (with wifi on but screen brightness on min)
It went up by about half an hour after I put an SSD in
