How is 7.7" an inbetween size when there's a number of 7" tablets on the market already?
That said, it's nice to see new small tablets with decent resolutions: I like the look of 1280p. I reckon 5.3" is just about pocket sized still (it'd certainly *fit* in my pockets, whether it'd be comfortable is another matter) but might be a bit small for regular usage and for pen-based input...
It's actually 800p
But yes, it's a respectable amount for 7" tablets. I still can't believe the vast numbers of the very similar 1366x768 resolutions they bung in 15" laptops. It hurts my face just to switch to my 13" notebook at that res after using my 1080p 15"er.
I'm definitely not ruling out buying one of those 5" phones though, that resolution would be awesome. I find it curious that they don't have battery life information - but with a 2,500mAh battery and only a 5" screen, it should be lasting longer than my current phone (Desire HD) which has a 4.3" screen and 1,350mAh battery IIRC. Granted, the internals are different too.. but I think I heard these dual cores are roughly as power-sucking as last gen single cores.
*rubs hands*
Right on the verge of getting a Galaxy S2 and they announce the Note... Dammit now i have to wait longer!
Wow (shadowsong): Arthran, Arthra, Arthrun, Amyle (I know, I'm inventive with names)
That wasn't meant to be a dig at the article Scott - it's just that I reckon 7" is the start of "full-sized" tablets, with 10" actually being large tablets. As such, IMNSHO a 7.7" tablet *is* full-sized! After all, the original Galaxy Tab was 7", as is the HTC flyer...
Ooops! I was so excited by the decent resolution I got my naming conventions backwords
Actually I hate all those hacked about and bodged 16:9 ratio screens. I much rather have a proper 720p (i.e. 1280x720) than 1366x768 (although ideally I'd take 1280x800 for preference). 1366 x 768 just feels like it's made of bad compromises...
I've currently got the Optimus 2X, and as far as I can tell battery life during actual usage is barely any different to the HTC magic (526MHz ARM9) it replaced. In a tablet I should imagine there'd be no practical difference.
True, but I'd still rather take 1366x768 over 1280x720. Even though it would work out slightly uglier with my projector.
For example, photoshop really struggles with 768p - I have to have the task bar set to autohide to fit the entirety of some dialog boxes on.
720p, while a bit limited, is sufficient for most tasks though - I think photoshop is the only thing I've found that really has issues.

USB 2.0 host? As in, I can plug in a mouse or keyboard (presumably with the right adapter), and it will work?Connectivity
Bluetooth® technology v 3.0 + HS
USB 2.0 HOST
WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, WiFi Direct
I'd hope so. My £130 etouch had that capability using standard Type A USB. It should also accept USB hubs - I was able to run a mouse, keyboard and USB mass storage device off my etouch via a hub. It also accepted one of those USB - PS2 adapters, so I could plug in a (PS2) mouse and keyboard even without a hub. Although how much use that actually is depends entirely on the software you've got on it - one of the big lacks in Android at the minute (IMNSHO, anyway) is a "proper" office suite...
