Re: News - Major Xbox Live dashboard update detailed

Aside from implementing full Kinect control, the dashboard update will also deliver some deeper social media options. A new system will allow those who use Twitter and Facebook to post achievements to send push notifications.
"Driver" is already offering to send updates to TwitBook. Wisely - because I don't want the Twitter-sphere to see how many attempts I had at taking a rogue Porsche down with an Alfa Guiletta - I declined this option.

The new design looks good in the screenshots - although I'm going to be a party pooper and point out that having full Kinect control would be great - if Kinect didn't require you to be in the middle of a large space! I'd love the idea of being able to do Minority Report style gesture control - but given I'm sitting only 3-5 feet from my screen, Kinect isn't going to work.

That said, when the update comes out I might give it a try anyway, just to see how badly Kinect fails in such a small space.

Career status: still enjoying my new career in DevOps, but it's keeping me busy...
