STOP tormenting meeee
I want this game so bad at the minute.
I have been through Demons Souls twice now, second time was easier as I had my tactics down to a tee.
First playthrough though it took me nearly 70 hours to get through it, gradually working my way forward and slow progression. Second time I only died a handful of times and done it in around 20 hours.
Doesn't really sound like the type of game that sells huge volumes these days.....be interesting to see how well it does, especially after the first week or two...

There's a 1 hour 24 minutes Quick Look (yeah, I know) here...
Ferral (29-09-2011)
I really need to find the time to play the first one.
I'm assuming that, like the first game, as you get further through the level there's shortcuts you can unlock so that you can bypass chunks of the level the next time you die?

Demon Souls was easily my game of 2009, best Action RPG i have played bar none and so Dark Souls is my most anticipated game release this year

Cant decide what class to choose on my first playthrough
Played as Knight and Thief in last game, might try one of the spellcasters in this release....

Was about to post that I don't even have a PS3 - I'd posted the link to torment Ferral. I know of the first game and thought this was exclusive again. Bugger, I'll have to watch that video myself now
Edit: I'm so glad Brad wasn't playing. Looks like I might have to pick this one up.

There are campfires on this one, you can save your level progress at a campfire, however, when you do that all the enemies on the level respawn. I'm guessing there will be shortcuts you can open on this one. World 5 on Demons Souls had shortcuts on both the levels involved, makes life much easier with getting poisoned, plague and not forgetting the giant depraved ones in the swamp.
Yeah, this one is multi platform Paul. Guess the sleeper sucess of the first game made them decide to do it on both consoles. I dont know how the online will work on the 360 though if you dont pay for a gold subscription.
I was reading last week also that if you get the game early and you decide to play it, on the first level it puts some high level Black Phantoms in your way with maxxed out stats, armour and weapons so you have no chance of doing it!
Well, good news is I've had an email from Microsoft resolving my hacked account. Refund's authorised and I've been given points and a couple of months gold as compensation. Mate's wanting to do four player system linked insane on Gears of War 3, so I could get Dark Souls in too. Just concerned I'll have time seeing as Rage is imminent, plus I'm wanting to get hold of DEHR for the PC too, oh, and Skyrim.
So many choices! Love it
Edit: The last one, as I recall, had a pretty fragmented release. Best thing they could have done was go multi-platform really. The audience is obviously going to be larger. Will have to wait to see how the porting has been handled. That Quick Look only showed the PS3 version. I want to see how well the 360 handles it before spending.
its coming to the xbox?!??!
W00t!! Remember reading a lot about Demons Souls but being an xbox owner couldnt get it.
I'm glad I wasn't the only one!
Demons Souls is extremely hard if you rush. There are a few moments where it is tough regardless of moving slowly like the 2 Blue Eyed Knights at the end of World 1-2 just before the Tower Knight Guardian.
However, if you persevere then you are fine. First play through was a lot harder and I died so many times at the hand of those 2 knights that I had the luxury of 2 Black Phantoms next to them at one point until I killed the Tower Knight.
Its an old school game, you learn from mistakes you make, even if you know a level like the back of your hand you can still be killed by something low level, then its back to the start of the level with everything respawned. Taking on 2 enemies at once can be really dangerous but manageable, anymore though and you are goosed!
Thing is though, you get such a sense of acomplishment when you defeat a tough enemy or a end of level boss, its absolutely fantastic.
Loved Demon souls, only recently completed it again. I'd like to think i've completed most of the game, been through it 3 times, the last time I used the cheat where you can get infinite amount of consumables, so I levelled up to about 600 and used all souls gems for weapons and spells.
Cant wait for this Friday as I have Dark souls pre-ordered and will be slowly going through it.
