One wonders for how long the FX series and six-core Thuban will co-exist in retailers' listings.
fx 8150 has been posted too for $283.26

The entire Phenom II X6 line has been at crackerjack prices in recent months. You really do get heck of a lot of processing power for £100 these days.
I'd recommend AMD hitch a ride on the energy-efficiency bandwagon and launch a bunch of FX chips with 65W TDPs.
There is a 35W TDP 8 core Opteron which is now available:

I think that's ADP CAT.. not TDP
Average CPU Power.. not Total Design Power.. and ACP is obviously lower.
So.. 35W is an average..not a max
yes.. ACPQuote:
Known specifications of Opteron 4200 microprocessors are listed below. Please note that we included ACP, or Average CPU Power, which is lower than Thermal Design Power:
Model # Cores Frequency ACP
Opteron 4226 6 cores 2.7 GHz 75 Watt
Opteron 4228 HE 6 cores 2.8 GHz 50 Watt
Opteron 4234 6 cores 3.1 GHz 75 Watt
Opteron 4238 6 cores 3.3 GHz 75 Watt
Opteron 4256 EE 8 cores 2.5 GHz 32 Watt
Opteron 4274 HE 8 cores 2.5 GHz 50 Watt
Opteron 4280 8 cores 2.8 GHz 75 Watt
Opteron 4284 8 cores 3 GHz 75 Watt
The article says that 32W ACP is equal to 35W TDP??
