... but will that be enough. That sounds to me like they will be at Intel's CURRENT levels in 1-2 years time. That's not great news if I understand that correctly...
Is it just me, or do all their names sound like extreme 'Ladies' entertainment' toys?
It's a much better strategy than their old one, refreshed processor line up every 2 years, so is promising. Perhaps they'll have an easier time maintaining this after successfully getting their graphics design process in order; perhaps that's where the idea came from...
As long as they manage to keep 1 socket for 3 or more releases I'll be happy.
Actually, if they manage to hit a 15% cumulative increase with each generation, they'll get over 50% performance increase from Bulldozer to Excavator /All-in-all, the aim is that the jump from 'Bulldozer' to 'Excavator' will demonstrate a performance-per-watt increase, of between 30 and 45 per cent.
