... but will that be enough. That sounds to me like they will be at Intel's CURRENT levels in 1-2 years time. That's not great news if I understand that correctly...

Re: News - AMD charts out life after Bulldozer?

It's a much better strategy than their old one, refreshed processor line up every 2 years, so is promising. Perhaps they'll have an easier time maintaining this after successfully getting their graphics design process in order; perhaps that's where the idea came from...

As long as they manage to keep 1 socket for 3 or more releases I'll be happy.

Re: News - AMD charts out life after Bulldozer?

All-in-all, the aim is that the jump from 'Bulldozer' to 'Excavator' will demonstrate a performance-per-watt increase, of between 30 and 45 per cent.
Actually, if they manage to hit a 15% cumulative increase with each generation, they'll get over 50% performance increase from Bulldozer to Excavator /

    Plans plans plans plans plans.

The proof is in the pudding.

Unfortunatly AMD's pudding rarely tastes great.

They're keeping AM3+ for piledriver only. Then they're moving on to FM2. Apparently.

AFAIK,Trinity is FM2 and will work on FM1 motherboards. However, have the AMD CPUs all on one socket does make more sense as it would mean a better upgrade path.
