Is it just me or is this chip a little redundant considering the 2600K has an unlocked muliplier

    ... AMD's FX-8150 six-core Bulldozer core ...
So, that's six cores plus an extraneous one at the end - still leaves us a core short though... I know the whole cores v. modules thing is a bit confusing with bulldozer, but I didn't think it was that bad...

Kinda, they both have the same TDP though so the higher starting clockspeeds of the 2700 might mean you can get the same overclocks with less voltage. Probably not worth shouting home about though! I would say its more redundant because it had no competition anyway

This chip will be better on the performance/volts scale.

    Innocent mistake? =P

The 2700k is a little redundant, what it means is that generally the 2700k will have better quality silicon and thus be more overclockable but Intel of course only look for it to run stable at 3.9Ghz so really what you get as on overclocker is slightly less of a gamble (an increased chance that you're receiving superior silicon).

Think it says 8 cores now.

Indeed, it's been updated to octo-core (although it still says "core" after bulldozer as well, which looks a little redunant to me *shrug*). My wife would've charged $1.20 for that bit of proof-reading and editing though...

Is it? The 930 was nothing more than a voltage bumped 920 after all. Would be interesting to see power figures on this.

Talking Re: News - Intel slips in Core i7 2700K Sandy Bridge chip

I ordered a 2700k today from (as far as I could find out) the only supplier in the UK who has actually just got them in stock, it cost me only £5 more than a 2600k and it's been dispatched for delivery to me tomorrow!

Yes I am overly excited because I woke this morning ready to order a big upgrade for me which was planned to be the 2600k, this would have been awesome as well but clearly I've had a nice result!

A chance well worth the extra £5 I paid for it today, over a 2600k, ...bring on tomorrow

Yup just £5, give or take pennies, more than a 2600k would have cost today! A proper result as i wanna do my new build this weekend so was more than happy to order the 2600k until I fell on this

No it wasn't. The 930 was a multiplier higher on the same volts.
