Is it just me or dose the vrm on both the ud5 and ud7 look better than the "flagship" g1 assassin2?

Why is the UD5 the only one with 8 ram slots?
If it is anything like the current x58 lineup, the "G1 assassin" range won't actually be the premium/flagship board, but rather have a more gamer-oriented (but sweet) feature set. For example, expect a Creative audio chip (as opposed to realtek + creative software) and Bigfoot Killer NIC. On the other hand, the UD7 (or UD9) will probably be the "high end" with fewer fancier add-ons, but the premium spec. Although as others have said, it is very odd that the UD5 is the one with 8 memory slots...
I wonder if the UD7 is being pitched at the O/C market like the affordable-but-woefully-consumer-feature-poor X58-OC that was released recently. Hmm, well, only the UD7 has 4 PCIx16 slots, so maybe its not *so* feature-lite!
OK, so it seems:
UD3 = affordable/budget
Assassin = Gamer
UD5 = enthusiast/home-workstation
UD7 = extreme/overclocker (I believe extreme O/C types don't usually use too many RAM sticks for fear of indroducing timing issues etc).
In terms of the VRM coolers.. yes, the g1 styling is naff.
Gamers don't need 8 slots, and will likely be able to run faster with just four dimms. Budget buyers don't need 8 slots, and are likely to run cheaper with just four dimms. UD5 is for people like me who want a more workstation-like setup, though I'm happy with my 6 dimm slots at the moment - I can dream of a 64GB home setup

Where's the mATX one, I want to see one of those!
I very much doubt there will be a mini ITX X79 motherboard. I also doubt whether there will be a micro ATX form factor one either due to the socket being the behemoth that it is and having DIMMs on either side. A mATX board would certainly have to make extreme sacrifices to conserve space. They would probably do this by reducing the number of 3rd party chips so say goodbye to USB3 and extra SATA ports, not to mention PCI-E slots.
I'm not saying that PCI-E slots use 3rd party controller chips, only that they take up a hell of a lot of space on the board as most manufacturers leave enough space between them for double or even triple width cards.
Actually, ASRock has released a m-atx x79 mobo, the X79 extreme4m. And it's still got USB3, but sacrifices 4 DIMMS.
