Galaxy Tab owners have my sympathy, but does anyone know if all these faults are limited to Samsung's update? Reason I ask is that my Asus tablet got a firmware update this week and now it seems a lot more reluctant to switch orientation (especially in the Browser app).

Glad I haven't updated dad's tab yet then.
At least the Samsung update did *something* - despite LG announcing an official gingerbread update for the O2X two weeks ago, whenever I try to update my phone it claims that I have the latest version.
Perhaps it's just trying to save me from a borked update...?![]()
Its funny that everyone seems to have forgotten that Samsung don't have much luck with software. Even though they have the popular phones of the galaxy s and 2 , their software is still glitchy and Samsung does struggle to fix problems and issue updates.
Is this the same Galaxy S II's that every tech site is still having wet dreams over?
The reason I ask is because my experience of android on the HTC desire S has been "somewhat unstable and glitchy"
I am wondering is this is par for the course on Android phones or the Desire S is just a piece of junk.
"In a perfect world... spammers would get caught, go to jail, and share a cell with many men who have enlarged their penises, taken Viagra and are looking for a new relationship."
My Desire HD has been perfect from day one. I think no one in my office with the Desire HD or original desire have had any issues either. I think the HTC desire range is probably the most stable and up to date Android series or handsets. Lets not forget HTC were rumoured to have exclusive access to the Android updates before any one else.
Nahhh, they've moved onto the GSIII now. I swear that if you read three sites you'll get three wildly differering views on "confirmed" (their words not mine) GSIII specs. I'm seriously expecting some site to come out with a "leak" that the GSIII is hexa/octa-core, has more memory than my gaming PC, a 4Ah+ battery, will play PSP games and you can interact with it like Robot 1-X (Futurama episode "Obsoletely Fabulous").
That experience is par for the course for early 'droid phones - my X10 running 1.6 was a POS. Later releases should be a LOT better - e.g. the same X10 running the official SE ROM is pretty stable - only complaint is that sometimes the home screen can take up to 10 seconds to redraw all the icons - but I've got a lot of them, and it doesn't happen that often.
I've got to say though, if Samsung pulled out some secret home-grown tech such as a super capacity battery then they could eat up the market with an edge design firms like Apple would struggle to achieve. Already I'm looking forward to flexible screens, though an entire flexible phone would be cooler.
Flexible phone? Hmm, not a good idea for me - it'll either end up permanently banana shaped or broken. E.g. "look how far I can bend my phone"; "SNAP!"; "Damn it!"
Like "miniyazz" I'm wondering how come Samsung could screw it up so badly - this is Honeycomb we're talking about, so surely there's not that much "vendor enhanced" content in there?
