Features - QOTW: do you still overclock your PC?

Or is overclocking losing its appeal?

Re: Features - QOTW: do you still overclock your PC?
Nope. Stock clocked hardware is plenty fast enough these days, and now that I'm older and wiser, I prefer accurate computations to sooner erroneous computations.
Oh yeah, and the poll wont let me pick an entry, again.
Re: Features - QOTW: do you still overclock your PC?
Yea i've got an overclocked pc for gaming, as OC the graphics card still has quite a performance jump. As for the erroneous computations, prime 95 for 24hrs is more than enough in my book :)
Re: Features - QOTW: do you still overclock your PC?
I usually only overclock when I need to. Usually when encoding video. Using Q6600 and Q8300 CPU's

I cannot vote too.
Re: Features - QOTW: do you still overclock your PC?
overclocking is free and means you can pay mid-range price for top spec components
q6600@3.6ghz and 560ti@975mhz FTW
(I can't vote either)
Re: Features - QOTW: do you still overclock your PC?
Commenting from an i7 2600K overclocked at 4.8GHz :P
Re: Features - QOTW: do you still overclock your PC?
Folks, apologies for the broken poll. It's being looked into and should hopefully be up and running soon.
Re: Features - QOTW: do you still overclock your PC?
Depends.....mostly I overclock as far as I can @ stock voltages.......occasionally I do a proper overclock (which I am running at the moment on my main rig due to necessity)
Re: Features - QOTW: do you still overclock your PC?
TBH, no.
I'd probably overclock my components out of curiosity of what they can do/casual benchmark fun (Hexus 3Dmark for example) rather 24/7.
As suggested in the article, CPU's are so fast now that overclocking isn't really needed - especially with things like Turbo CORE/Boost. Add to this the added cost, whether that be noise, better cooling or the electric bill - outside of casual messing about, there isn't much appeal for me personally. Undervolting and underclocking on the otherhand... ;)
Re: Features - QOTW: do you still overclock your PC?
Same here, bought a 2600K just because it would overclock and remain stable well past 4.5Ghz, paid a third of the price of a 980X and am getting the same perf.

What could possibly necessitate a 4GHz i7? :p

A couple of games struggle at anything below 3.5 (console ports running at 2560x1600 with everything maxed can cause quite a cpu strain) and it's about 0.1v between me being stable at 3.5 and 4.0....so 4GHz it was :P

Flight Simulator X :)
Some games seem to scale linearly with CPU clock speed, unfortunately. The more the merrier, quite literally.

You should know better than anyone.
FOLDING!
