That seems pretty harsh.....more reasons to feel smug about not owning one!
I'm guessing this doesn't just apply to apple though, would dell/acer/asus etc suppliers be any better. Also Foxconn are sited as a supplier with a poor record, so anyone who buys a Foxconn motherboard, should they take part of the blame for this too?
I don't think it's fair for an article like this to insinuate apple are solely to blame for incidents like this.
I think Apple should take the blame a little bit more though, as in recent years they've pre bought chips in huge quantities causing manufacturers to increase supply, then said they didn't want them flooding the market causing chip prices to plummet, where they then re-bought them.
Also if they know the working conditions there are shocking, they could always boycott them, and still make a hefty profit moving elsewhere.
" In October, a MacBook casing supplier was ordered to close a planet stemming from complaints over pollution" - from the article
Seems pretty harsh if you ask me, I mean, I know Earth's a bit of a mess but we can't go anywhere else if they close it :(
Rumour has it Apple are trying to pin the blame on Samsung or Google
It is well known that Apple push their suppliers extremely hard in order to improve margins. Becuase their orders are so large, they have quite a lot of leverage and they abuse it as much as possible. It is this pressure that leads to the poor working conditions of their suppliers\' workers. Sports brands are known to exploit cheap and child labour as well but somehow they\'ve managed to evade attention recently.
theres a difference between poor and downright dangerous working conditions
the greed of the few outweighs the need of the many
bankers, politicians, corporations..
