BlackBerry maker not interested in a takeover or merger.
" RIM is intent on fixing its problems on its own and is more likely to look toward other commercial opportunities rather than a merger or a takeover."
Thats what they all say ... and before long we are hearing talks of takeovers and merger deals.
Well often thats what they hope but if the share holders see the chance to make a quick return they often jump for it. I kind of hope they keeping going separate as the competition is good. Nokia or microsoft would almost certainly switch to making Windows Phone 7 devices and Amazon heavily customized android devices. Neither of which would be good for us the consumer.
i just think its impressive that the CEOs have put their salaries to $1.... Seriously why dont the bankers do things like this? Oh thats because its our money not theirs :D.
Hopefully RIM sort themselves out, i cant see any reason to get a Blackberry as they always seem overpriced and quite underspec along with being unreliable (loads have BB in my age group and they all seem to hate theirs at some point...).
Ahem.
Oh yes they have...
Interesting news - just as they start a firesale on the playbooks (£169 now in Currys)..
BlackBerry would of been a better match for HP than Palm as it matches the enterprise offering. I can't see what the attraction would be for Amazon. Microsoft would look like a monopoly with Exchange and BES. Nokia could get it to go through, but both are lame ducks.
I think HP would be the best buy for BlackBerry, mainly because HP is firmly in the enterprise market. It can use WebOS as a foundation for the new BlackBerry devices, but have BlackBerry messenger etc all baked in as a HP exclusive to differentiate it from other WebOS open source devices.
The software side of things with BES would bolster HP's enterprise offering with servers, workstations and laptops.
