Personally, I don't mind. I would either have ordered before the hike or doing what I am now (waiting for better availability and fancy revisions to be released while the drivers mature).

But, to have a go at people who are concerned at the prices going up in front of their eyes seems a little harsh. I feel that have valid reasons to be annoyed....even angered.

I feel a number of these retailers have done themselves no favours in the long-run, especially when so many are still frustrated with the current hard drive pricing fiasco.

Its not cheap for sure, but Hexus bang for buck was calculated at £450 and doesn't look too bad for high resolutions!

I paid over £400 for a 9800XT in 2003 I think and in todays money that would be around £530. I know technology has become cheaper but not necessarily at the bleeding edge!

Still I won't buy from OCUK and would really prefer to Scan but not paying the premium they are charging at the moment! Anyone have any preference / suggestions in terms of OEM or retailer? I tend to just buy the absolute cheapest if its reference design but I know that returns etc can be easier depending on who you pick. Tempted by the Gigabyte at £440 from Dabs, or the Sapphire for £450 from Ebuyer. I don't know much about VTX but they seem the cheapest all round and I assume they will also be the make of the DabsValue / Ebuyer Extra Value / OCUK branded one?

Also to those complaining about the UK / US price difference I had a quick look on Newegg and saw $549.99 + $8 delivery ex tax. Average exchange rate is about 1.55 at the moment (down from 1.6), so 549.99 + 8 / 1.55 * 1.2 (for UK VAT and assuming free UK delivery which many retailers offer) and you have £431 which is not far away from what we are paying is it?

I've returned stuff to eBuyer and Dabs without issues......but as always with that sort of question: you will always find people with good and bad experiences of any etailer. There are plenty who have bad experiences with scan as well FWIW.

As always, you pay your money and take your chances.....with such a high ticket purchase I would be cautious in ensuring all the i's are dotted and all the t's crossed if you did have to RMA it!

I'm looking to start playing Eyefinity! I agree that at or around £200 is often the sweet spot (my last, well current card was a 5850 near launch for £195). I think I might be able to hold off for this to dip under £400 but I want one!

Novatech prices have held and they have stock arriving on the 13th at less then the release day price.

Club3D sold out and unfortunately our next stock is not from manufacturer but from a distributor at wait for it, over £50 more expensive!

VTX3D, Powercolor, HIS etc. still in stock at original prices.

My re-buys on these cards are going crazy, distributors are getting hold of stock and milking it like crazy, if your considering one buy one of the cheap ones otherwise wait a month until manufacturers ship a load more to us direct as pricing is going crazy as obviously stock is none existent due to Chinese New Year.

Of the cheaper stock we've only got approx 60 left now and sales are very strong, probably only a couple more days of stock left until all cards shift upwards considerably in price until approx February.

OcUK prices seem to be going up £50 plus the dreaded, because of the Chinese New Year Hmmm...
