Agreed. I was taught (by a highly qualified police driver) that the less time spent on the wrong side of the road, the better. But .... if you speed to do it, and get caught, well, we can't really complain, can we? Speeding is, after all, one of those 'absolute' offences where, if you do it and aren't covered by one of the very limited number of statutory defences, and they can prove you did it, then why you did it is immaterial, even if it's for safety reasons.

Still, worth reiterating how much of a sh1tty big brother country it is that we live it.
I wouldn't mind if the goal was to make us better drivers / increase safety but you know the way they do it that it is nothing more than about using motorists to bolster raise income.
I have a dual lane carriageway near me with wide grass verges either side and then separate, parallel roads off that for the houses beyond but they still stick a 30mph gatso there when even 40mph would be more than safe. It's insane. They're taking the great out of britain.
