Asus have tried cracking the smartphone market before with underwhelming results (M930 anyone?); as Lee says, the market's saturated, they don't have much of a track record, whereas they have an opportunity to score big with this tablet. They could ANNIHILATE the Kindle Fire before it was ever launched here, for instance, and what a decent ICS tablet at that price point could do to fruit-based sales just doesn't bear thinking about. Silly Asus.

What's wrong with launching both Asus?

We think we're being spoiled and hence would have nothing to complain about (apart from the weather, economy, fuel prices, government, sport, etc...). Like you I think they're daft not doing it - it'd be a perfect entry level model to the EEE Pad range.

By the way, I was reading something about Victorians the other day, and the book was saying that it was fashionable to call small tablets "tabloids" - don't think that'd catch on as a term for MeMO sized devices though.

I look forward to these being imported from the USA. ASUS are stupid and have basically said: "all yours Amazon!".

By the time they realise their mistake, it will be too late to do anything about it.
