You have 3.5G, orig 3G was 256kbit I believe, though that would make it 400x not 500...

I think it's more about reality, with 3g as saturated as it is, you never realistically receive anywhere close to top speeds in crowded areas.

I think it was the american carriers jumping the gun when they didn't really have 4G. Phone manufacturers had to really copy the rest of the herd so now it'll probably be called 4G+S ;)

Well it could surely only be sold after the digital switch over and I remember hearing it would be auctioned off this year sometime. So just in time to setup shop for the new generation of phones, (might not be so simple?).

At least when it does sell it off, networks can buy ?5G? enabled equipment instead of investing in LTE first.
