What upsets me with that picture is just how old fashioned the tube looks... That picture could've been taken in 1972 or 2012... I guess the CCTV is the giveaway that it's probably taken this side of 2000.

Is this just going to be WiFi access in the various foyer areas? Ie the ones that are filled with mindless tourists at the best of times, without the idea of free WiFi to keep them there longer? Joy.

I agree totally with this comment! Some stations especially on the jubilee line are beautiful modern buildings but the majority are awfully neglected. Saying that lat time i went to newyork their subway looked very outdated compared to ours.

hehe - im mentally scared having travelled on the tube so much when younger so cant really tell the difference if its that picture is old or not, as not used it for years now

As a non tube user don't really see the big deal about wifi seems a waste to me, im sure the only reason they will introduce it is to make its customers pay an extortionate amount for it.

I'm surprised how little wifi there is in the UK. Here literally everywhere has free wifi. Often provided by the city, but every coffeshop, restaurant, etc.

It's the metropolitan so a lot of the trains are really old but they have brought out new ones which are really really nice, better lit, air conditioned, spacious and you can walk across carriages. Thought the station looked like Aldgate but probably isn't, most stations are really old and just maintained to keep them going, one wonders where all that money goes from those expensive fares we pay.

This whole Wi-Fi things sounds rubbish, I'd much rather see them fit some telecoms masts so we could use 3g or something, who would want to pay a subscription to have full net access just on the platforms. Another expensive waste of money.

The majority of my tube travels are on the Northern line, so alas no airconditioning/spaciousness there

I saw a sign yesterday saying that 2 million people will travel within Zone 1 in a day... at £2/journey that's £4m a day just in Zone 1! Would be nice to see a breakdown of where it all goes...

I can't say I'm fussed about the free WiFi but will wait and see what happens; and compared to NYC it's a shame that in London there are basically no free hotspots and nor is there any 4G coverage!

Looks like Baker Street, and that's an old Metropolitan Line train, they should all be out of service and replaced by the new walk through trains within a year, scheduled to be done by late 2012 IIRC.
