You've got to admire their bravery - its going to be a hard battle on their own. Lets face it Android and iOS have the mobile market pretty sown up now and the tablet space even more so. Even Microsoft spend a small fortune are struggling to make an impact (I'm surprised they didn't do a tie in). I hope they succeed to a certain extend though as the competition is good.

So basically they are sticking to the existing formula in the short-term whilst they work out how to play catch up. As long as they have their signature devices with qwerty keypad that can browse the web as good as the other platforms they can still be relevant. They need make those new curves < £100 devices which I'm sure they won't do.

Its surprising the lack of Android phones that have qwerty keypads. This is where RIM are holding on, phones with actual buttons to write quick and accurate emails with. You can't write quick decent length emails with touch screens.

but they took a huge hit due to that long spell of downtime back in 2011.

You can if you have a big enough screen

Nah, touch screen on my Desire HD is big enough, but if you try to go too fast it just misses characters.

Swype / Touchpal Curve Used both of them, they pretty much revolutionise touchscreen text input - so much faster than trying to prod tiny onscreen keyboards. Plus I've got pretty big thumbs and have issues typing accurately on BB's qwerty keyboards anyway, tbh....

Re: News - RIM roadmap details BlackBerry’s plans for 2012

Cant imagine using any other phone other than a Blackberry for the foreseeable future, i just dont "get" the touch screen type phones (which are just to damn expensive anyway) Have had a bb for about 7 years, and for as long as i just need a phone for email/texting/messaging i see no alternative out there, just have to hope RIM will be around for sometime longer

Re: News - RIM roadmap details BlackBerry’s plans for 2012

The reason I got my Xperia Mini Pro is because of the physical keyboard....but agreed, I'm looking to replace it with the Xperia Mini Pro (new model) but it's not cutting edge by any standard..1ghz cpu with a small screen! However, I'd not be without the keyboard, I can txt so much quicker than other people with low(ish) end Android devices...
