Does this mean other fibre providers will have more reasonable prices? Im in an infinity area but i dont fancy the draconian nature of BTs business or the insane price it costs if you go with anyone other than BT.
I have just ordered FTTC from IDNet, paid £363 for the year including installation cost. Got the Home Plus option which is normally £28.58 per month. http://www.idnet.net/solutions/home/broadband/default-fibre.jsp
I probably wouldn't of ordered it if Sky told us that they were going to offer FTTC services over the BT network this year. But 3 months of 10x faster internet is worth the little extra it cost.
Can't see if it's based on BTs fair usage policy and traffic shapping...
Although probably is :S
Wish BE would move their fibre service out of trial status......

In this case as it's a from scratch roll-out, it's unlikely to be location based as such, those in smaller town and villages across the country will be last as there's more users in cities and thus more customers for more money sooner.
I would certainly be up for this, and my BT coverage is only coming online at the end of March anyway. If they can minimise the traffic shaping and keep the pings low, Sky might well have themselves another customer, probably for TV and the whole lot too.
Roll on April anyway

Be Careful on the Internet! I ran and tackled a drive by mining attack today. It's not designed to do anything than provide fake texts (say!)
Good news indeed, but can't see it being available in my area for some time yet
£20 a month? What does that do to Sky's packages then? Is that £20 then TV packages? Line rental? How does that compare to their normal internet prices?
Sky launch in April..exchange goes live in june..nice timing, don't have to put up with BT's fair usage policy
Just done an availability check on Infinity in my area, it is going to be available by 31st March at long last.
So then Sky launching their service in April means it all ties in nicely for me
Glad I held out for SKY fibre, I currently have everything through SKY but my internet is a little lacking (6mb)
Started looking into BT Infinity/Virgin media and apparently BT Infinity will be available on my street March 2nd so Sky launching a fibre service in April fall's very nicely indeed
no date for us...shocker
LLU ADSL is £7.50 a month from Sky if you have the Sky Talk package which means it works out at about £21 a month including line rental. So, I reckon you'd be paying £33.50 a month BEFORE tv packages...
Old puter - still good enuff till I save some pennies!
