As a long-time Flight Simulator fan, I'd love to be excited about this, but I just fail to see who this game is marketed at.
Too realistic for the "make it crash!" casual gamers, yet too much of a game for Flight Simulator enthusiasts like myself - talk about a no-mans-land!
I suspect it will perform poorly, unfortunately.
Having tried the Beta, quickly came to the conclusion it was grossly dumbed-down and made for idiots. It even defaults to 3rd person view. Everything about it looks like a flying game rather than a flight sim. If it can't be modded or expanded it is doomed. I guess that will boost sales for the mac loving X-Plane creator. Flight sim fans will stick with FSX and the various expansions. The only thing I liked about the new game was the slight increase in texture detail (some of the textures, others were straight out of default FSX).
Agreed, at least they didnt give 'Flight Simulator' a bad name and have put the franchise to one side.
One problem is the term Free. All these 'free to play' games are indeed free to play, but if you want to enjoy it and progress you will need to put some hard earned £££ towards it, otherwise you'll get small amounts of updates and very little progrssion.
