to be fair they actually do have a reason for the poor profit, the kindle fire being sold at a loss (selling MILLIONS iirc?) would have hurt it loads, but that was already known to happen however this year it should turn that around .
Good luck amazon, id love a store from them as they actually have everything at a good price!
I can see this quickly becoming the new Argos if it happens...
Question is, will you be able to go in store, see something you like, only to find its sold by some dodgy bloke and not actually amazon - as the current system seems to operate?
Handy if you need to demo a product or need it ultra-fast but with their Free Delivery Online I think it will be a big ask for them to achieve any sort of success on the high street.
How so? If its the same price and a store was close then why wouldn't people call in to get it there and then rather than wait 3-5 days for free delivery? :s
If they open them up it would be great.
3-5 days? For anyone ordering any sort of quantity off Amazon, like I do, Amazon Prime is the answer - it really is an amazing service, and on more than one occasion I've ordered on a Sunday late afternoon and had a delivery on the Monday morning.
It would actually be more effort for me to visit a store, than simply have something arrive at my desk in the office the next day!
Well considering most people don't use prime and stick to the free delivery 3-5 days is accurate.
Also the argument isn't that a store will replace the website. The point is that it will work alongside. So if you want to order it from your desk then you could still do it.
But for all the etailphobes out there this could cause quite a stir on the high street. Finally the rip off agents in the likes of Game and HMV would be no more.

I generally have excellent delivery speeds from them when they use Royal Mail. But a store would be great. Im sick of telling family and friends "Its cheaper on amazon"
Mate buys a pair of headphones in HMV for £130 and thinks he is the dogs danglies
I point out that they are £49.99 on amazon and he has just been scammed by another HMV bargain.

Oh of course, id love to have an amazon store... i feel plymouth lacks alot of useful tech stores, we have PC world currys comet basically! Would like for Amazon to come here so i can buy almost anything instore, problem is that it wont be as wide range as their website so im not sure what they would stock!.
Yea well that's the question really. Maybe just have 15 - 20 stores nationwide stocked fully like the website

Maybe it will actually turn out like an argos style shop like vrykyl said, i can see them simply opening up a few distribution hubs around the country and slapping a front end on it, win win for all really... quick google on amazons website (or browse instore via their kindle fires perhaps!?) then buy it.
