It even shows what appendage to use!!

I don't like the monochrome. Bit too far IMHO.
It appears that the pic showing that new Tile logo on a development Windows 8 table was photoshopped. Here's another version of that same pic that shows the tablet has the old style Windows Flag logo, not the (supposedly) new tile logo:

The design seems lazy, I suspect it's false or a place holder for developers to use instead of one of the older ones.
There are only 3 primary colours... Red, Blue and Green being the additive primaries and Cyan, Magenta and Yellow being the subtractive primaries.
Agreed. I think Microsoft have a lot of pretty serious branding issues that they may never overcome. I even find the name 'Microsoft' to be very old fashioned. It certainly isn't the most marketable name in the world, compared to things like 'Apple', and 'Sony', and 'Sega'.
Surely the microsoft logo is far to well known now to get a sudden arbitrary redesign?
Dont like this new one either way, so hoping it isnt the real deal!
wow, that must have taken ages to come up with.

The classic Windows logo could be A LOT worse, it does its job and has a minimalist charm unlike this apparent new tripe we're seeing now...real or fake, my point stands.
Change isn't always a good thing and sometimes, its just what might be required, not in this case though
+1 on this - the old Windows logo gets splatted everywhere, so it's surely a "recognized brand".
As to CheeseMP's suggestion of renaming Windows, I'd like to hear some suggestions (expletives not permitted). Could follow TheAnimus' theme and rename it as "TouchMe" . Personally of the alternatives I thought of in the last 30 seconds I prefer "MiOS" (Microsoft OS), although I'm certain that Apple would object - claiming it's too close to "iOS".
While it looks terrible on screen, I actually think it looks alright on the button. If a little flag like.
The font and quality of the picture makes me suspect its a fake.
How about we called it MTOS(Microsoft Touch Orientated OS)?? Imagine what the names of the OS fans would be called!!

Don't really care about the logo, or the name. Logo could be a straight line for all I care and they can call it boggy OS. Names and logos won't determine the success, its all about the product. If Microsoft want to spend less money on a logo and more money on making the product better, then fine by me.
I'd disagree with that. Its all about image the tech market place nowadays. Lets face it we as 'tech' people look at specs and performance but ask the guy on the street and its about how cool it is. Lets face it Apple can release anything and it'll be popular now no matter how poor value it is and how few features it has. Google/Android have some of the cool factor which is why they can actually compete with Apple. Name is everything in selling from clothes to cars!
