Really? I disagree. Not found anything to improve on VLC.

Re: News - VLC 2.0 receives makeover

I'll probably be re-formatting this week so i'll give it a look over my usual hero MPC.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

This, VLC is pretty much the best playback software I have used.

Re: News - VLC 2.0 receives makeover

Been using this from the nightly builds as it gave me some display options I wanted for my HTPC (removing the cone background when no media was a big plus for me). Glad to see it hit full release - especially the GUI tweak.

Re: News - VLC 2.0 receives makeover

I'll give it a go but GOM player has served my needs pretty good for a few years now and I'm comfortable from a distance using EasyBrowser etc. VLC needs to have changed a lot to convince me to use it on a day to day basis.

media player classic home cinema edition for one, has had decent hardware decoding, shader and multi thread support for a while now. That and is android remote control work wonders for me. Though I installed vlc 2.0 last night I tried to drop and avi into the window to open it and it said no so I closed it before it even got to play its first file

    1. Doesnt MPC require additional codecs to actually work?
    2. Not tried that but i use XBMC for my media centre as its much more suited and the hardware decoding in that is brilliant.
    3. Big whup? VLC can handle near enough everything you throw at it so just set it as default and double click like normal people

    MPC: HC?

Had hardware decoding/acceleration a while before VLC did. I find it to run a lot smoother then VLC, along with using less resources as well. This is in comparison to 1.0 of VLC, have yet to try 2.0 but will give it a bash soon.
