800mhz dual core, interesting proposition instead of a 1.2ghz single core?
Would have thought that this would have been difficult to be specific about - meaning that the best you could do would be to say "phone X feels faster than phone Y". Sure, you can run benchmarks, but I'm not convinced that this'd be a suitable metric on how good or bad a particular configuration is.
Gut feeling is that a multicore phone should be better than a single-core one - simply because if you're doing a cpu-intensive task then you can dedicate a core to it, whereas with a single-core phone you're limited to whatever time is available after other tasks have been carried out.
My other question would be whether a dual-core system would be more power efficient than a single core. If I assume that it's possible to totally power down an unused core then the answer has to be "yes". This being because even if the phone's "idle" there's a small amount of cpu needed to run screens, check for mails/updates/etc. So your faster single-core processor will always be active.
As you say though ... it'd be interesting to see someone do some testing.
Well, the Ace 2 is now on pre-order for £280 sim-free at some stores.
