Aren't there a distinct lack of NFC-enabled phones - just too a quick look at Expansys and there was only a Nokia on the first page of the SIM-free ones.

i got a galaxy s2 on orange then my mrs got one to match a month later. hers has nfc mine doesn't. gutted thinking of dropping it see if the replacement is an nfc one.

In the UK, yes, but there's been a big explosion of their use elsewhere. I think with the tech appearing on the Nintendo Wii U and its wide variety of potential applications, security, convenience, commercial, gaming etc as it ends up on a lot of new phones this year it's really going to begin taking off in the UK too.
