Many People dont take power supplies into as much consideration as they should. Its all well and good having all the new gear, but if your PSU cant supply the voltage required with minimal ripple, its going to cause reliability issues in all other hardware. I eagerly await those results!

I think new PSU's which offer greater reliability and efficiently should always be welcomed although the extent to which the real-life savings come from 'Bronze', 'Silver' and 'Gold' should be investigated to see whether they are actually worthy of their increased cost.

Agree that the initial outlay difference is usually greater than the savings unless/until you've run the machine for a few years continuously. However, isn't there also a significant benefit in terms of heat generation? If it helps me run cooler (and therefore quieter), it could makes the extra outlay worthwhile for my home computer.

Doh! the quote thing doesn't show in my post above - quoting Dark Knight for the first para.

    Edit: ...and now it does.

If the Platinum examples significantly undercut Seasonic and Enermax they'll be very interesting. However their likely premium cost over the Gold versions will leave an uncomfortable pricing gap in the range.

Like everyone else I'm keen to understand just what kind of saving owners can expect from each level of efficiency certification. Hexus readers are computing enthusiasts so scenarios such as general use/low end games, FPS gaming and Folding would give a great indication of how the ratings relate to anticipated use.
