Given they refuse warranty for water ingress, and have a sensor to prove it,
I'm amazed iphones have gaping holes, and no rubber bungs that other phones have.

I'm not convinced by that design - would prefer that the screen was flat, or slightly convex. The "lazy U" design is undoubtedly interesting, but I think too many folks will think it looks like it's suffered a mishap. If the SGS3 is designed like that then I'll definitely give it a miss.

Still think that the old SonyEricsson Arc and Arc S had the most appealing case design.

Water resistance sounds like a nice to have - although heavy rain resistance would appeal more to me than being "dropped in a puddle" proof.

Consider perhaps though, a return to a flip-style phone (which are really popular in Japan still :S), except when you flip it open there is one gigantic, continuous, OLED display.

I like your thinking! Now that genuinely would be a "game changer" - especially if they then sell a large version of that to Android/Apple tablet makers.

Quick! Patent it before Apple tries to...

I postulate that exact idea, oh a couple of years ago now, on a forum (might even have been these very forums and flexible displays had just started development) about phone design and I was shot down in flames for such a "stupid idea" (I guess I was ahead of my time ).

How about one that was roughly T shaped when unfolded, but was able to be used - as a phone - in folded mode. The unfolded one could be great for watching videos or maybe the odd game.

Got to wonder how they'll overcome fatigue on that sort of design though. If you keep bending something in the same point over and over it'll discolour and then fail.

The S3 does have my interest for contract upgrade but its viability it slipping. They have until april the 1st to show their cards (as in at least paper release) else i'm going elsewhere (which is also likely if they want to much more for the phone which they will)

Samsung should go back to being who they are, the underdog that beats the main player, rather than try and be the big dog.

Good point, although if it takes two years to fail then I suspect most folks will find that acceptable. Although I suspect it's value on Mazuma etc would be pretty negligible for that reason.

Hmm, best information available (= rumour consensus) has the S3 launch around the end of March, with perhaps a teaser/taster at MWC. Again BIA has availability in EU end April with US in "Fall".

Think you mean Galaxy S2 as the S3 isn't out yet. Check out http://hexus.net/mobile/news/android...-galaxy-s-iii/ for the latest S3 "possible design".
