Flash, with stupid pointless comments about something I don't care about.
They might as well just get Gary Glitter as a front man.
Cracked it
Hope i win
Yeah, I entered too. I didn't have to share my facebook details with them as I was already logged on to facebook when I did it. It posts a message to invite more people to enter which will look good when I get to work as I'm working for a competitor! lol.
Jeez guys - come on play fair.
If you've nothing nice to say....
You don't need to share your Facebook details
That's right, if you're logged on to facebook before entering the competition the dialog box to get 'your details' doesn't come up and Samsung have no way of getting details from the page either, all they are asking is you post a message letting other people enter the contest too, should the want to, it's really an intrusion into your privacy.
David - can Hexus do the same then (i.e. play fair)?
This whole article reads as "Crack the code and win a notebook".
When actually it's meant to be:
"Crack the code and then enter a prize draw to win a notebook".
There is a massive difference - the first is interesting, newsworthy, technically challenging..and fun.
The second is still newsworthy, but it's a story about a competition, rather than a code breaking challenge.
Trust me I don't take pleasure in criticising hexus (although it's the second time tonight..sorry!) - I love the place for its news and community (been reading/posting/participating here for over 10 years now!) but sometimes things do go a bit "tabloidy". I know the internet is a tough place to publish, but you get my point I hope.
No disrespect meant to you or the team who do an excellent job!

I'm very grateful to Hexus for organising so many competitions. However, this raised my hackles a little, as it appears to have done for others, as, if you're not already signed into FB when you enter, it bugs you to login.
I'd query what would happen in the event that one didn't have a Facebook account in this case? No mention of this is given on any preceding Samsung page. The potential to have just wasted 5 mins traipsing through some terrible Flash to find the answers and for the potential to not even be able to enter after this was what annoyed me. As I said, I'm grateful to Hexus for the work they put in, but thought I'd try to explain as rationally as possible the legitimate reason as to why I (and others) felt slightly aggrieved by this.
Spud - thank you, you will note this is an external competition and not something which we are running with our competition engine.
We flagged this to our readers for the simple reason - you can win one - I also then posted asking people to not kick the hell out of something for little gain - the aim is to encourage people to take up the opportunity.
I wouldn't class HEXUS as tabloidy at all - and I do take offense to that, we have leading edge content from all across the industry.
If what you are saying is you don't want us to post up things like this - then we will look in to it and consider your request, I ask though 2 questions 1. Is it not an opportunity and 2. Did it make your life any worse?
Oh no, I appreciate that - I meant to make it clear in my original reply that I realised this wasn't anything to do with Hexus, but it was very late last night and it slipped my though process.
It was only that your initial post seemed to take a small amount of umbrage at us whining - I'd like to clarify that I was complaining about the externally organised competition, and not simply at Hexus for advertising it.
