Physical CDs for music I particularly like - usually buy from Amazon or eBay, whichever's cheaper. Rip them to lossless for home listening and then to AAC for portable listening.

For everything else and for discovering new music, Spotify Unlimited.

I can never believe it when people say they use YouTube to listen to music. The sound quality of most of the stuff on YouTube is barely better than AM radio...

Re: Features - QOTW: Where do you buy your music?

I rarely buy downloads unless I have a good reason to (I've bought one album via download, Katie Melua's most recent, and that's because I had a small Amazon credit and couldn't think of what else to do with it! I also bought a couple of individual tracks from Amazon for a halloween playlist I was building at short notice, and i think that's the real benefit of download purchases to me - I can grab the one track I really want without any messing).

Otherwise, I buy CDs from charity shops (or through other second hand means). Can't remember the last time I bought physical media new...

Shops. Either online or on the highstreet.

At the moment we listen to CDs in the house and car. Once I can get some time and money together to get my media network up and running again, it will be Buy -> Rip -> Stream/copy to iPod.

The only time I've bought a download was when it was an exclusive or gave a distinct benefit over a physical version. For example I bought a download of an album I already had on CD because the MP3s came tagged with the lyrics that were on in the CD cover.

I'm more likely to buy a LP version of an album than I am a download.
