"said to be “re-imagined for the tablet generation” "

Ah yes, that's the generation that have no use for a mouse.

Re: News - Mouse with no buttons, wheels, balls or tail

I wonder if they're going to offer a "Pro" version that uses rechargeable batteries and an inductive charger instead of "boring" AAA batteries. That'd be something to see, although I'm happier with conventional mice with scroll wheels and buttons.

In other words I still prefer my current Logitech Anywhere Mouse MX.

I'm waiting for the Extreme version which comes without the mouse.

Re: News - Mouse with no buttons, wheels, balls or tail

MS Touch Mouse works exclusively with Win 7. The Apple Magic Mouse is for OSX only. This Stealth mouse works on Windows XP/Vista/7, Mac OS 9 and up and Linux. There appears to be little else different about it though.

****ing stupid. buttons actually work, I really dont understand the obsession to get rid of them, and things like switches and cables.

So basically they've found a way of cutting the cost of manufacturing, by providing less components, and charging the consumer more

Re: News - Mouse with no buttons, wheels, balls or tail

two words: wireless, bleurgh If they make a wired version I might be remotely interested.

On the other hand, I do wonder if this is squarely aimed at Win 8. If we're all to be forced onto Metro, an input device that can let you use swipe and multitouch gestures whilst navigating the metro interface might actually work quite well...

Re: News - Mouse with no buttons, wheels, balls or tail

I think some are expecting more from this than what it is....

It looks to me as if it is nothing more then what it says "a buttonless mouse"......you still need to "click" where the buttons should be....so, you have a mouse with less feeling but it doesn't make a clicking noise...

I'd hate to use it. I like to feel the buttons I'm pressing.

    So does my cat! lol

Only advantage I can see if getting rid of the physical buttons is that you'd also lose that "click", so if you're hacking away late a night then this might be a slight improvement. Although in that case, surely the keyboard noise would dominate (along with the swearing when things don't work of course).

Roll on gesture based computing when we've all got close-up versions of Kinect!
